Thanks to a wide network of suppliers in the U.S.A. consisting of manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers Adams Classic Cars can offer you parts of excellent quality, at low prices.
Every week shipments arrive from overseas by air- or sea-freight.
Adams Classic Cars can supply you with new, (NOS and reproduction) and used parts for the different models of Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Chevrolet, Pontiac and Buick.
Parts that we offer are mainly new (reproduction), but may also be N.O.S. (New Old Stock) or used.
New (reproduction)
Reproduction parts are parts that are copied from the originals, using new tooling. Because the availability of N.O.S. and used parts is getting less, reproduction parts are the only source left.
The quality of reproduction parts is often questioned. Sometimes there are big differences in quality between several manufacturers.
To have as much control over the quality of the parts Adams Classic Cars chooses its suppliers carefully. We travel to the United States on a regular basis to visit existing and new suppliers, to discuss production processes and quality control.
If a part will be reproduced for a particular car depends on the popularity of the car and the demand for these parts. For some cars nearly all parts can be obtained (e.g. 1966 Mustang) for other cars there is nothing available.
Delivery Time
The delivery time of reproduction parts is short, as long as the parts are in stock with the suppliers. When parts are out of stock it may take some time for lesser current parts to become available again. This is because most manufacturers don't produce the same parts continuously. They will wait until a certain (minimum) amount of orders has been placed before converting a production line and starting another production run. Sometimes it takes months before this happens and then it will take some time before the parts reach our suppliers.
Quality
Many reproduction parts are manufactured in Taiwan, China, Indonesia, etc. A lot of US manufacturers have moved their production to the Far East due to production costs. The definite quality control however is still done in the the US.
To reproduce sheetmetal parts as accurately as possible our sheetmetal supplier "reverse-engineers" the parts. This means the parts are taken of an original car after which the dimensions are very precisely measured with the new technologies available and are reproduced. During this process improvements are made where possible. The improvements consist of thicker sheetmetal, reinforcements that weren't in the original design due to cost reduction, etc.
N.O.S.
N.O.S., new old stock, are parts manufactured when the cars were still driven and serviced regularly. Many manufacturers, cardealers and shops had these parts in stock. After the cars were being scrapped, or just discarded, a lot of these old stocks were left over. Thes parts are now sold as N.O.S. parts for the, now, classic cars.
It may be obvious that these parts may become increasingly sparse. They are however preffered over reproduction parts when it comes to keeping the classic car original. in price as
Adams Classic Cars searches for specific parts on request. Please contact us when you are looking for a specific part.
Used
Because N.O.S. or reproduction parts aren't available for all American classics Adams Classic Cars searches for used parts in California and Arizona for you.
On some of the junkyards cars from the 50's (or even earlier) are available. Thanks to the dry climate these cars are mostly rustfree.
Unfortunenately this source of parts is also drying up and therefore the prices are going up.
